MUSICAL TORTURE The term "musical torture" is sometimes used to describe the practice of using recorded sounds for interrogation and psychological pressure on a person. Methods of "noise torture" or "sound torture", which include the continuous playing of music or noise, have been paired with sensory deprivation, sleep deprivation, food and drink deprivation, and stress positions. In Russia during the time of Ivan the Terrible, bell torture was practiced. A person was seated under a huge bell and they began to ring. The victims became deaf, suffered from ruptured eardrums, went insane, even died. In the modern world, cases of torture with white noise (through headphones) as well as torture with heavy metal music, with playing tracks of Metallica, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Eminem are known.
