Every one knows that 1st May is Labour Day. But how many of us do know the following history of this day? One of Our real heroes of Indian Struggle for Independence Prafulla Chaki alias Dinesh Chandra Roy was born at Bihari village ( Now in Bangladesh) on 10 Decemeber, 1888. He was dismissed from school for his anti British activities, then he came into contact of revolutionaries and became a member of “jugantar” group. His first action against British was shooting dead Joseph Fuller, the first Governor of East Bengal and Assam. Later being associated with Khudiram Bose, he planned to kill the magistrate of Muzaffarpur Mr. Kingsford. On 30 April, 1908, the duo threw bomb on him in front of the gate of European Club. Kingsford was missed where as three other shot dead. Prafulla escaped to Kolkata by a train but a traitor Indian Nandalal Banerjee, a sub inspector of police caught him. Prafulla was sent to jail and there he committed suic*de with a revolver on 1 May, 1908. Salute...
