THE BESTMAN

THE BESTMAN When my fiancée introduced Harold his best man to me on our wedding night, how could he have known he was setting me up with my future husband? My name is Anna and this is my story. I was from a poor background, so after my secondary school education in the village, i moved to the city to seek greener pasture.  I lived with my mother’s sister and her husband who weren’t finding life easy either so i had to do some hot jobs to fend for myself and also save up for my tertiary education. The burden from my siblings and even parents in the village was unbelievable as i suddenly seem to be on top of the food chain as they would always contact me with different problems that required financial assistance thereby making it impossible to have savings. I was working in an exquisite bar, the pay was fair and the tips weren’t so bad especially since i was quite beautiful and i did some hook ups to support. I had closed from work for the night when i noticed  a man sitting at ...

After aunt Sophia buried her face in the chest of the security man, everyone laughed out loud.

How It Was Going After aunt Sophia buried her face in the chest of the security man, everyone laughed out loud. "Common, Sophia, it was only, but a cow". Mr Desmond teased She slowly disengaged herself from the man, and pulled her hair.. "So you think this is funny, right?. That cow could have jumped on any of us". She said. "Well, thank God, it didn't". The man she embraced said, and the others laughed. "This is not funny, we almost got into an accident". She insisted. "You're right". The men nodded, still smiling. "Yeah, but please, let's quicken our pace. The day is gradually coming to an end". Mr Desmond warned. He moved back, and made to hold aunt Sophia, but she backed away. "Don't touch me, don't. You caused all these. Why will you bring me to a place like this?". She quarrelled him. "Sophia, I never asked you to come with us, remember?". He said. "What?, So you're not ev...

I WAS ONLY SEARCHING FOR A JOB

I WAS ONLY SEARCHING FOR A JOB After many years of trying to obtain a certificate in my profession, I find myself rolling on the streets, searching for a job. Reflecting on my school life, it wasn't easy – the fees, the rush hours to class, the stress of doing projects, and those hungry days when I had to drink only water while still focusing on my books. School was a challenge, but as a student aspiring for a better future, we had to carry that cross. I've attended job interviews where I was asked to make a payment afterward. That wasn't what we were told before going to school. We were informed that after dedicating years to our education, our future would shine, especially with our professional certificates. Unfortunately, the reality was different. In the midst of my thoughts, my phone rang. It was Ella, my childhood friend, whom I hadn't been in touch with much since university. She provided me with a contact for a new company opening somewhere. I called the number...

I never knew my wife had a snake as a pet

I never knew my wife had a snake as a pet, not until after our wedding and she was moving her property into my house. She brought out the snake from it cage and let it free in the house. When I came back from work and saw the snake and I attempted kîlling it. As I rushed to the kitchen and brought out a knife to kîll it my wife stopped me "Honey stop meet daisy my pet" she said and laughed at me. I seriously didn't buy it, she begged that daisy has been her pet ever she was 16. She said , daisy was picked alongside the road while she was going to church so she considers her as God's gift. I finally let daisy stay but on the condition that she was kept in the cageat all times. My wife didn't listen to my instructions and she'll let daisy out sometimes. One morning we woke up and saw one of our neighbour crying. When we requested to know why, they said there son was taken away while everyone was asleep.. I suspected daisy but my wife would defend her to any leng...
